The Eyes are Key to Concussion Diagnosis and Treatment

Jacqueline Theis works as a neuro-optometrist for Kaiser Permanente Northern California, treating patients with double vision and vision problems from systemic and neurological disease including stroke, traumatic brain injury and neurodegenerative disease. Dr. Theis previously worked as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the UC Berkeley School of Optometry and was the Chief and founder of the UC Berkeley Sports Vision Clinic, which provides research and clinical care in post-concussion vision problems and sports vision performance. She conducted clinical research in partnership with UC Berkeley Intercollegiate Athletics and Sports Medicine in vision changes post-concussion. Dr. Theis is a graduate of Bucknell University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and cellular biology. She received a Doctorate of Optometry degree and completed residency training in binocular vision and neuro-optometry at the UC Berkeley School of Optometry. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and an active member of the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association, and the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association. She is a national lecturer in neuro-optometry and concussion with a keen interest in understanding and improving visual performance.
